Told you I couldn't resist...

Safeway had such good deals this week, and with us needing milk and everything...I just had to go shopping. Here's what I bought:

$9.48 spent, $40.08 saved (81%)
...plus, I earned a $2.50 catalina!
Yes, that means I got everything in the photo above for less than what the regular milk alone would have cost. That is my favorite kind of shopping! The fruit snacks are all going in the donation box because we will not eat them. I'm hoping the husband will want the 2 cans of Progresso for work lunches...if not I'll pass them onto my mom or stick them in the donation box as well.

  1. Too funny! It's so hard to resist when the deals are so good. I plan to hit Safeway tomorrow. Thanks for the tips!

  2. There have been so many good deals lately. I think you have done a great job sticking to the pantry challenge. I wouldn't have passed up this weeks deals either. But I got a good laugh out of it too.

  3. Was there a deal on the milk that I missed?

  4. Julie- I had my FREE 1/2 gallon chocolate milk wyb 2 gallons of milk coupons. Otherwise they're just $1.99 each wyb 2 gallons. I had lots more ecoupons loaded to my card then I realized and the cashier gave me the regular price of the chocolate milk on my coupons instead of the sale price (that was an extra $2 of overage).

  5. Thanks for the reminder about setting things aside for donations. We did really well with that in 2009 but I have already forgotten this first month of 2010. I looked a the deals for the fruit snacks and thought to myself, I don't want them! I don't like my kids eating them. But how selfish of me to not remember them to donate!
I'm a former dental assistant, so all in all I really hate these fruit snacks because they increase decay. But really, when you are hungry...they really are a treat!

  6. Jane, I probably would not have thought to donate them either, but they recently asked for kid snack foods in the church bulletin (that's how I know what St. Vincent's needs most). They're not healthy but any means, but it is nice to have fun treats once in a while!

  7. I'm totally with yall on the fruit snacks. I mean in their case "fruit" is a relative term, BUT that doesn't mean someone else would love to have them, and it looks like "buying" them gives overage, so why not?? :)

  8. You are amazing! All of that for the cost of a gallon of milk, is just unbelievable! I still want to be you.
    Have a great weekend!
