2 Winners! (Safeway O Organics coupons)

So, it's officially Monday night and therefore time to announce the 2 winners of O Organics coupon sets...are you ready? The winners (as selected by random.org) are:
  • Poster #16: Kaila who said "I would use them for fruits and veggies!"
  • Poster #25: Heather who said "I would use them on Tofu + Produce! Yay!"

...and then just for a little bit of extra fun, I decided why not add a third winner?

  • Poster #23: Annette who said "Will use them on produce, probably carrots! "

Congrats to all the winners! I'm going to do my best to get emails out to you all tonight so that I can get your address and send some coupon-y goodness your way as soon as possible (but it is almost bedtime and I'm on my own with the kiddos tonight, so you may have to wait until tomorrow for your email, sorry!). I'll be adding some random coupon goodies to your envelopes as well, just because it's a little bit more fun.

O Organics: Coupon Giveaway!

I've been getting tons of questions on and off since I began posting about these great O Organics Safeway coupons, even more so after my O Organics pick of the week post. Most of the questions are in regards to where these coupons can be found and what they look like. I've had great luck in finding them in the pharmacy area, sometimes even behind the counter where I've had to ask someone for a few. As for what they look like, take a peek:

I set these out so you can see both sides. As you can see from the stack on the left, the coupon is a tiny piece of the ad at the bottom. It's valid on all O Organics products (with the exception of fluid dairy products) and doesn't expire until 12/31/2010! They can be used at any Safeway or affiliate store.

Since I've been so lucky in finding these awesome coupons- I'd love to share some with you. Two lucky people will each win a set of 5 O Organics coupons (and a few miscellaneous coupons, to make this a little more fun). You may enter twice, once by leaving a comment on this thread with what you think you might use the coupon on. You can leave a second comment if you are a follower/email subscriber, letting me know that you follow or subscribe to me. Please be sure to leave a way for me to get ahold of you!

I'll use Random.org to select two winners on Monday night (6/14), so be sure to enter before then. Good Luck!!

Eat From the Pantry Challenge!

I am super excited about what these two ladies are hosting for the month of January- instead of Baking Day, we're all taking on an eat from the pantry challenge! This is the first time I'll be trying to make a month out of it, but after taking stock of my inventory- I'm confident I can do this! The rules I have set for myself in this challenge are:
  1. I will only buy from the produce, dairy, and bread sections. Everything else must come from the freezer and pantry.
  2. I will go to the store no more than once a week (although I'm hoping to limit myself to 2-3 trips total)
  3. All money saved will be put into savings.

I'm working on a menu plan today (for the whole month- yikes!!) and this is what we're looking at so far (in order, although I may change things as we go):

  1. Hamburger meat w/tomato sauce and corn, served with tortillas- yumm!
  2. Turkey, Rice, and cheese veggie casserole
  3. Stuffed tortellini in red sauce with ceaser salad
  4. Tacos with Mexican rice
  5. BBQ chicken, hash brown casserole, and corn
  6. Beef and Vegetable Stew w/homemade rolls
  7. My mom's birthday- we might take her out for dinner
  8. Parmesean Crusted Tilapia with penne and broccoli in alfredo
  9. Grilled Peppered Steak with Cabernet Balsamic Sauce, mashed potatoes, cooked carrots
  10. Oven roasted Chicken Breasts, Stuffing, Green Beans
  11. Spaghetti with meat sauce, Garlic Bread, Garden Salad
  12. Chicken Enchilada Casserole
  13. Pork Chops: need to google a recipe
  14. BBQ Meatballs, pasta&veggie (maybe? this is not normal food for our house, but we might try it just for variety)
  15. Fish Fillets (frozen), Mashed potatoes, Corn in butter sauce (freezer)
  16. Dinner out maybe?
  17. Crescent Roll Lasagna (husband's grandma's recipe), Garden Salad
  18. Meatloaf, Hash brown Casserole, Brussel Sprouts
  19. Teriyaki Chicken w/Rice and Broccoli
  20. BLT's, pasta salad, and leftover hash brown casserole
  21. Spaghetti with meatballs, veggies with dip
  22. Cream Tuna on toast
  23. ?
  24. Steaks, homemade fries, corn
  25. pork chops: need to google a recipe
  26. Tostadas with crockpot refried beans
  27. Whole Roasted Chicken, Stuffing, Mixed veggies (freezer: steam bag with potatoes and green beans)
  28. Chili Dogs, veggies with dip
  29. tilapia: need to google a recipe
  30. Peanut Butter Chicken and Rice
  31. Baked Tortellini with salad

Did you make it all the way through? I know, it's a TON to read, but there's a bonus! Are you participating? maybe not? Either way, I have an envelope full of coupons (some set to expire in January, some not, including some FREE item coupons) that I'm going to giveaway. To enter, simply leave a comment here with your email address on or before the 4th and I'll select someone at random (using random.org) to win. It's not anything amazingly fancy, but it might just perk up your coupon binder!

PUR Giveaway

I was recently provided with some information about a great event coming up later this month developed to raise money and awareness about clean water efforts (and the chance to offer a giveaway to one of my readers). I'm more than thrilled to help spread the word about this as well!
Summit on the Summit
  • This January PUR is partnering with “Summit on the Summit” (SOTS), a celebrity climb of Mt. Kilimanjaro featuring Jessica Biel, Alexandra Cousteau and others that will raise awareness and funds for clean drinking water efforts. Find out more HERE
  • Dr. Greg Allgood, Founder and Director of CSDW, will be joining the climb as the water authority, educating the climbers on the global water crisis and what is being done to help.

How Can You Help

  • When you buy a PUR, you’re not only helping your family get clean water, but a family across the world.
  • 1 System = 1 Week: For every PUR system purchase, one week of clean drinking water is provided to a child in the developing world through CSDW. To-date, CSDW has already provided 1.8 billion liters of clean water to children and their families around the world.

Why Is PUR a Smart Choice for Families?

  • By simply using a PUR water filter, you will remove many of the common contaminants found in drinking water. Including: 94% of atrazine, 98% of lead and other metals, 99.9% of microbial cysts and 96-99% of pharmaceuticals.
  • Switching from bottled water to filtered water and a reusable bottle can save one person up to $600 a year and eliminate up to 3,200 plastic bottles.
What great reasons to buy a PUR! Of course, winning your very own PUR Pitcher would be pretty awesome as well- here's your chance! I'm definitely excited to be giving one of these away, and here are the three ways in which you can enter (you can do all three to increase your odds!):
  1. Leave me a comment, don't forget your email address so I can contact you if you win!
  2. Tweet about it! I don't care if you tweet and link about the giveaway or just tweet and link people to the SOTS information. Let's spread the word about this event. (Just be sure to leave a separate comment that you tweeted with your twitter name here. Even better if you @maybefrugal!)
  3. Tell me what your favorite thing about PUR filters is! In a separate comment, of course!

You have until 9pm PST on January 6th to enter, I will select a winner using random.org and announce who it is on January 7th. Good luck!

Disclosure: I was provided with information about this event and PUR filters and offered the chance to give away a PUR Pitcher to one of my readers. I was not provided with any sort of compensation for this post.

Progresso Prize Pack Winner

*EDIT: a new winner has been selected!
I know I said I'd announce the winner tomorrow, but it's past 9pm PST (the deadline for entries) so I'm announcing the winner now. The winner of my Progresso High Fiber Soup giveaway (provided by Progresso through My Blog Spark) is:

Entry #3: Mere Mortal, who said:
"I ended up adding oats to soups instead of barley. My baby doesn't know any better, and, since he and I eat the same thing, I get the extra bit of fiber too."

What a great way to add a bit of extra fiber to your diet! I don't have your email, so please send me an email with your information (maybefrugal(at)hotmail(dot)com) so that My Blog Spark can get your prize pack off in the mail to you. (If I don't hear from you by January 3rd, I will have to select a new winner!). Thanks to everyone who entered! (P.S. I've got another giveaway coming up soon so check back soon!)

Thanks again To Progresso and My Blog Spark for allowing me to host such a fun giveaway!

Menu Plan (Tuesday?) and a Giveaway!

Even though I've been prepared for Christmas for quite some time, I'm still a little bit surprised at how quickly it's creeping up on me this year (seriously, wasn't it just Thanksgiving??). Thanks goodness I have all those freezer meals stashed away, because if it weren't for those- I don't know what I'd be making! Here's my menu plan for the week, it's really pretty uneventful.

Monday: Progresso High Fiber Minestrone soup (sound good? keep reading!)
Tuesday: Beef Stew (from the freezer)
Wednesday: Christmas Eve's Eve Dinner at MIL's house
Thursday: Prime Rib Roast (having my mom over)
Friday: Christmas!
Saturday: Tacos and Crockpot Refried Beans
Sunday: Baked Potato soup
Progresso has recently rolled out 4 new soups (Chicken Tuscany, Creamy Tomato Basil, Hearty Vegetable & Noodles and Homestyle Minestrone), each of which contains 28% of your daily fiber intake per serving (7 grams) and have no added MSG or artificial flavors. Sounds pretty cool, right? Even better, Progresso (through MyBlogSpark) sent me a pack which included the High Fiber Minestrone, two HUGE soup mugs, and two spoons so I could try it out myself.*

The husband was a bit reluctant to try the high fiber variety because he doesn't like "healthy" canned soups (of course, I don't think he'd ever admit to that). Except that he did like this, and so did the toddler (he thinks anything with beans is good). As for me? I think it was a bit on the salty side (I usually only buy low sodium varieties of Progresso because they generally seem saltier to me, but I also don't cook with salt unless it's needed). I did enjoy trying such an easy way to incorporate fiber into our diets, but unless they introduce a high fiber/low sodium variety- I don't imagine I'll be buying it. I think that if you're looking for an easy way to get some extra fiber and already enjoy any of Progresso's 75 other flavors, you'll like this. I think my favorite part was just having a super easy dinner night as we enter this week of craziness.

Now, the fun part? I get to giveaway a prize pack thanks to Progresso and MyBlogSpark! You'll get two oversized soup mugs (these are great!), two spoons, and a can of Progresso High Fiber Homestyle Minestrone to try for yourself! To enter, just leave me a comment with your favorite way to incorporate a little bit of extra fiber into your (or your family's) diet before December 27th at 9 pm PST. I'll pick a winner using Random.org and announce it sometime on Monday the 28th. Good luck!

*Disclaimer: I was given the package mentioned above for free from Progresso through MyBlogSpark. I was also provided with information regarding the new line of soups and the chance to offer a second prize pack to one of my readers. I was not told what to say, and all opinions are my own.

Safeway Giftcard Giveaway #3 (two winners!)

If you've been following along with my blog then you already know that Safeway has reduced prices on thousands of items in store. You also know that I was given the opportunity to give away a few $50 Safeway Gift cards to my readers. I recently asked what you all love best about shopping at Safeway and was pleased to see all the reasons I like shopping there listed and we played a guessing game based on a recent shopping trip I made (without coupons!).

Now is your chance to tell me what you think about the new lower prices? Have you been down to Safeway recently and taken a look around? I'm sure if you have, you've seen those little yellow tags all over the store. You can leave your thoughts here anytime until 12pm PST on Monday and two lucky commenters will each receive a $50 Gift card. I won't announce the winners until sometime later that night (the kiddos have a doctors appointment in the afternoon). Here are the rules:
  • you must leave your email address in the comment so I can get ahold of you!
  • you must leave your comment on this post by 12pm PST on Monday November 9th
  • I will use random.org to choose the winners and hope to announce the winners by Monday night
  • This is the last of the gift cards I was given, so be sure you enter- you don't want to miss your chance to get FREE groceries!
  • Disclaimer: Safeway did give me a $250 gift card to check out their new low prices. All content posted here and in previous Safeway posts is all me- it has not been edited and I have not been told what to say (or even pushed in the direction to say positive things. I really do love shopping Safeway and I do like there new lower prices. Of course, I'll continue to shop with coupons and in different stores- but Safeway is my favorite and my new default as a result of the price reductions.)

Not a lot of rules this time around, I'm just curious to see what everyone out there thinks about the new low prices!

Giftcard giveaway #2: let's play a quick game!

Now that you all know about Safeway's new lower prices, it's time to check them out in action! My original plan was to head to Safeway with no real plan and no coupon binder (I know, *gasp* no coupons!) armed with the very generous $250 GC they sent to me to check out their new low prices. Of course, I haven't shopped like that since back when I was first married and we had all kinds of disposable income- so the plan changed. Instead I went through the house and wrote down a list of all the things we needed and wanted (2 separate columns of course). Then I grabbed the ad and looked to see what the best deals this week were so I could add the ones I wanted to take advantage of to my list.

THEN I went shopping, and I left the coupon binder at home. That's right, I actually left my coupons behind. Of course, I'm not a total crazy- I looked for coupons in store and used $4 worth of coupons in addition to a number of ecoupons I already had loaded to my Club Card. The results of this crazy trip? I ended up buying a lot of the items on my "want" list, because they were tagged with new low prices and/or great Club Card prices! It was kind of interesting to shop like a normal (but somewhat budget conscious) person might and my savings were still very good. These new low prices really do make saving money easy.

You might be wondering how good? You'll just have to wait....because it's time for a game and a giveaway! See this photo below of my shopping trip? Good! Now imagine a bunch of bananas right there in front next to the hamburger meat (kind of what it might look like if my 2 year old hadn't helped himself to an entire bunch of bananas) and guess what I paid AND what I saved...

That's right! YOU get to guess, and you have two chances at this. I'll be selecting two winners and each one will receive a $50 Safeway Gift card. Here are the rules for this giveaway:
  • Winner 1: the person with the closest guess as to how much I spent on the items pictured without going over (we're playing this game Price Is Right style)
  • Winner 2: the person with the closest guess as to how much I saved without going over
  • You can submit a guess for both categories (total spent and total saved), but should do so in one comment
  • You may want to read through the comments to be sure your guess is not the same as someone else's. In the case that 2 people guess correctly, the first guess submitted will be the "winner".
  • You have until 12 pm PST on Saturday October 31st to submit your guesses. I'll announce the winner on Monday November 2nd.
  • Don't forget to leave a way for me to contact you!
  • Want a clue? I kept track of the items I purchased with "new low prices" and they saved me an additional $8.15! That's more than the paper coupons I used in this trip!!

Safeway's new lower prices & a giveaway!

When I wrote to tell you all about playing Tag and Save at Safeway this week (don't forget! it ends on the 30th) I also mentioned that Safeway has slashed price on thousands of items in their stores. This awesome change has taken place in all 198 Safeway stores throughout Washington, Alaska, Idaho, and Montana! I'm going to be completely honest with you all, I've heard mixed reviews as Safeway had rolled out this new plan in different areas of the country and was curious to see what it would look like here. I've always thought Safeway had the lowest day to day prices and am very pleased to see that they're keeping that up with the new everyday low prices.

Here's the very best part, in my opinion- some of these new everyday prices are what I've come to expect of sale prices! When you figure in the club card price, it's great to see how much you save even without coupons. I spent a little bit of time there this afternoon so I could really check things out and can say without a doubt that Safeway is going to be my go-to store for my regular shopping trips. A few of these new prices even fell into my "stock up" price range- and that in itself is really amazing.

You might be wondering how widespread this price reduction program is and if it simply reflects a price drop on store brand items. While I did notice a lot of reductions on store brand items (hooray for that!), I also spotted tags in every single aisle of the store. From bread and wine to pet foods, salad dressing, and canned goods those cute little tags are everywhere!
They are also really easy to read an understand! For example- take a look at the photo below. The old price of SpaghettiO's was $1.79 a can, but the new everyday low price is $1.59! Even better, the sale price (in the easy to read big print) is 2/$3!
The range of price reduction is also really neat to see. Some items are $.20 less than what they used to be and others are $2.00 less. Be sure to take a good look around the next time you head to your local Safeway, you never know what awesome new low price you might find! I think Safeway is right on track with their goal of "offering thousands of new low prices, plus great Club Card savings on items across the store" and "providing customers with a more affordable and convenient one-stop-shopping experience." Way to go!

Ready for the fun part? I was recently given 6 safeway giftcards- one for myself so I could check out the awesome new low prices in store and FIVE $50 giftcards to give away to my readers!! Amazing, right? I'll be giving them away all this week, and you can enter now for your chance to win one! Want to know how? Simply leave me a comment in this post telling me your favorite thing about shopping at Safeway.

Rules? You want rules? Okay!

  • This giveaway will close at midnight pst on Monday, November 2nd
  • One $50 gift card winner will be selected using random.org and announced by 12pm pst on November 3rd
  • You must leave a way for me to get ahold of you in your entry (email address is best!)
  • You can leave a second comment for a second entry if you blog about this giveaway and Safeway's new low price program
  • Gift cards are good at Safeway and all affiliate stores (including Vons, Dominick's, Genuardi's, Randalls, Tob Thumb, Pavillions, and Carrs)
  • Note: I have turned on comment moderation for a short time as this post was getting spammed. I also deleted all comments about shoes and advertisements for other blogs.

Free Skintimate Coupon Giveaway!

I recently contacted the makers of Skintimate to let them know how much I love the new cream shave, my legs have seriously never felt more smooth! I feel like I'm pampering myself when I run a hot bath and shave my legs (how silly does that sound?!). And those ridiculously smooth legs make me feel a little bit more "woman" and less "mommy". In response to my email, SC Johnson generously sent me a coupon good for a free Skintimate Shave product worth up to $4 and I want to share it with one of you! I'll throw in a few extra coupons for fun, including some of those $1 beef coupons for Albertsons if you'd like (just let me know).

To enter, just leave a comment sharing one way you treat yourself and an email address. This giveaway will end Monday the 20th, so leave your comment before then. Good luck!!
