More butter @ Safeway

$3.26 spent, $38.44 saved (92%)
...and $15 in catalinas earned!
I can't resist free butter, and I was completely out of brown sugar, so another Safeway run was clearly needed! I bought 10 sticks of butter using ten $1 coupons, and 4 bags C&H sugar using four $.35 coupons. I used $12 in catalinas from this transaction to bring my total down to $3.26 and got back $15 in catalinas (five $2 cats for the butter, and one $5 cat for spending $25 on the HFTH promo). I could have brought the total down to $0.26 by swapping out a $2 cat for the $5 cat I had earned last time but since the expiration date on the ICBINB cats was less than 1 week away, I decided it was best to use that up now. The actual "net cost" of items pictured above is $0.26- not bad at all!

  1. How many computers do you own? I'm still jealous!

  2. Great trip! I did a transaction at Safeway too today. I got 8 butters and 4 pie fillings... paid around $15 or $16 and got back $13! I was pretty happy about that! Hope you have a great holiday!

  3. Kim, we have one working laptop and one computer, plus 3 harddrives that can be swapped out and a laptop that will work on occasion when forced and for short amounts of time. For this deal, I ordered 15 from a clipping service, collected inserts from friends and family, and printed one computers worth (there are 3 links, each with higher print limits than usual).

MDM, that's quite a deal! I may need to try to replicate that and get some pie filling!!

  4. That is so cool! We got our dinosaur computer going again when I started printing internet coupons. We have a laptop that isn't connected to a printer, that I should be using. I also need to start ordering coupons, I haven't done that yet. You've inspired me!

  5. hehe, we had to have a dinosaur of a comp hooked up because we like our laptop to be wireless, so the husband networked them (so we don't have to go plug into a printer when we want to print).

  6. Ahh, that's a good idea to network the computers so you don't have to plug in the laptop-I haven't printed much from the laptop b/c of that issue-hate plugging it in.

So, silly question for you - is it really butter or is it margarine? I always thought ICBINB was margarine, but it sounds like it's not? Hmmm, might need to look into this.

I didn't realize the sales go thru tomorrow, right? I rushed out to do some Albies doubles last night & then realized that when I got home.

  7. Jen, according to the package the ICBINB is 79% vegetable oil blend (mostly soybean and canola) so you're right that it's not really butter. I do a ton of baking (when I can) especially during the winter so I'm happy to get what I can for free (or as a MM). Obviously, I'd still need to buy real butter if I needed it- but this works for me.

And yes, all sales go through tomorrow!

  8. Thanks Maygan! Can you tell I'm not a big baker? ;) And rumor has it that the 1st Swagbucks gift card on sale on Fri might be the Amazon gift card--wouldn't that be great?!! I just hope there's not a limit - hopefully it will be available all day! :)
